Vatican Versus Trafficking

Pope Francis has written some strong statements against human trafficking, and is convening a group (of largely church officials) to discuss it in November. Women all over the world noted the absence of Catholic sisters in the group – and who has been doing more work against trafficking than they? So anti-trafficking groups and the sisters got busy and got themselves invited as observers. Bishop Marcelo Sorondo, the official in charge, was very open to their input; he has asked the observers to produce a practical proposal on how to reduce trafficking, or make life better for victims. Two UNANIMA sisters are going: Patricia Mulhall CSB and Jean Schafer SDS, who have been involved in anti-trafficking activities for several years. Is anyone else going from UI?
