News from the Girls

The Working Group on Girls (WGG) is one of the most active committees of which UNANIMA is a member. UI executive assistant Tori Larson represents us there, and enjoys the group’s diversity, strength and activism. Lately the WGG has been preparing advocacy that directly incorporates girls’ voices into the post 2015 agenda. High school girls are very active members of the committee, writing articles, making speeches, and speaking with UN member state representatives about girls’ rights and gender equality. Other projects include celebrations for the group’s 20 year anniversary, conversations with UN Women about empowering both women and girls, and intense preparations for the annual Day of the Girl celebrations. WGG’s mission is to work with and for girls–and they’re doing a great job!
