Meeting Talitha Kum

Talitha Kum is the UISG (International Union of Superiors General) anti-human trafficking project, with headquarters in Rome but with affiliates all over the world—APWRATH, ACRATH, CATHII, RENATE and similar organizations of sisters against human trafficking. Sister Estrella Cas3telone FMA (picture) came from Rome to participate in our meeting of the US Catholic Sisters Against Human Trafficking—and to recruit USCSAHT to become a member of Talitha Kum! We also had a speaker from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops who spoke to us about migrant / refugee children detained at the US-Mexico border. Another speaker from the Polaris Project updated us on trafficking legislation pending in the US congress, as preparation for our trip to Capitol Hill to lobby our congress people. We left our luggage at the Network Office (a Catholic sisters’ political lobbying group) so we had a tour of that office and got an update on the “Nuns on the Bus” projects.
