- Cecilia Nya (Society of the Holy Child Jesus) reports that the ripple effect of the UNANIMA Youth Gathering in Ghana last April is still being felt in west Africa. The participants have continued to organize similar gatherings in different parishes, dioceses, and schools, and are working in greater partnership as they invite other NGOS in other towns and countries to work with them in these awareness campaigns.
- The Sisters of the Assumption in the city of Maceio, Brazil cooperate with other religious communities to operate Project Thallita, a safe shelter and place of welcome for young street girls, adolescents, and women at risk of violence, drugs, prostitution and trafficking. Counseling, guidance, literacy courses, and workshops in practical and aesthetic subjects help them regain their self-esteem and re-integrate back into their community.
