Collaboration at DPI Conference

From 3-5 September in Bonn, Germany the United Nations Department of Public Information will hold its 64th session of the annual Conference for NGOs. UNANIMA International will have a delegation of two persons attending this conference which focuses on “Sustainable Societies; Responsive Citizens”. The first delegate is Maria Dinnendahl, SHCJ. She has been a member of the local English Transition Town movement in Mayfield, Sussex and is very interested in the issue of sustainable communities.

To help her and others deepen that understanding UNANIMA is collaborating with the International Presentation Association, the CND de Montreal, and the Pachamama Alliance to present a workshop entitled “Towards Sustainable Living: Proposals from Civil Society”. The workshop features Liam Kilbride, Director, Challenge to Change (Ireland), as the moderator and speakers Kitty Scully, Farm Manager, Nano Nagle Centre of Heritage, Spirituality and Ecology(Ireland); Duncan Martin, Cloughjordan Ecovillage (Ireland), and Jonathan Love, The Pachamama Alliance (USA and Ecuador).
This workshop will focus on programmes designed to train youth and others to become aware of the need to embrace sustainable, low-carbon lifestyles, engage in sustainable livelihoods and use the practical means to do this. For more information consult the websites of the individual organizations.
