SNJM Prayer Connection document:
This
prayer connection document, is created by Miriam Malone, SNJM. Please
use the prayer guide as often as you wish -- but Sr. Miriam suggests that we
join in solidarity on Fridays to pray for all women and men who are sent to
war, and for peace in our world.
You
can also use this idea for September 21st, International Day of
Peace

U.S.-Military Prayer connection
V. O God,
come to our assistance.
R. O God,
make haste to help us.
Scripture:
2 Corinthians
1, 3-5, 7
Blessed be the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the God of compassion and God
of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every affliction, so that we
may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction with the
encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged by God. For as Christ’s
sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ does our encouragement also
overflow. Our hope for you is firm, for we know that as you share in the
sufferings, you also share in the encouragement.
Response:
In the names
of David, Mark, Matt, Jonathan, John, Brooke, David Spencer, and Kate, (add
in names of those that you know) and all women and men throughout the world
who are sent to war we pray in the words of Psalm 86:
Incline your ear, O God,
answer me, for I am afflicted and poor.
Keep my life, for I am devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you.
You are my God; have pity on me, O God, for to you I call all the day.
Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O God, I lift up my soul;
for you, O God, are good and forgiving, abounding in kindness to all who
call upon you.
Hearken, O God, to my prayer and attend to the sound of my pleading.
In the day of my distress I call upon you, for you will answer me.
Scripture Promise:
John 15, 27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives do I give it to you.
Blessing and Sign of Peace:
Spend a few moments of intentional silence holding our loved ones and all
women and men at war in prayer before our God and praying that peace will
prevail upon earth.
Create a list of the
loved ones serving in your community, include pictures.
