I attended the DPI/NGO Conference held September 7-9, 2005 in New York.  It was very meaningful to me to participate as a member of UNANIMA International and as a Vedruna Carmelite Sister of Charity.  I am proud to belong to an organization of consecrated women dedicated to try to change structures which oppress too many impoverished people.   The emphasis that UNANIMA has to work towards the millennium goals, but specifically to work towards the eradication of trafficking and abuse of children and women is extraordinary.

I was very much impressed to see the world map and the many countries in which we the member are.  How much good is being done and could still be done!  To think that each congregation has sisters in so many countries and could collaborate from where each one is with UNANIMA, fills me with much hope.   I also see the huge challenge because it makes each of us responsible and not only our congregation’s representative in New York.

Thank you so very much for having invited me to have this experience of so much transcendence.
