July 2004 Update
Welcome!!! June 30 was the first day of work at UNANIMA International for Ana Maria Martinez de Luco, CCV. Thanks to Florence Deacon and Franciscans International she has received a credential that will enable her to be at the United Nations. She will be assisting UI to follow our concerns particularly in areas related to children - participating in the Committee on the Rights of the Child and the Working Group on Girls. Currently she is assisting in compiling the data that we received from the surveys on trafficking and immigration that we sent out earlier in the year.
Interventions available As mentioned in last month's update UNANIMA International sponsored two speakers for the "Indigenous Girl's Speak Out" panel during the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in May. The presentation of Valerie Henderson is available by clicking on the attachment linked to the email message in which this update is sent. Also, the intervention prepared by the SHCJ group living in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, and written by volunteer Gina Pultorek, is ready and can be accessed as an attachment to this email as well.
